Aequus Strengthens Content Conversion Expertise

Pine Brook, NJ - June 26, 2006 - Aequus Technologies Corp. today announced the acquisition of Unbounded (UB) Access, Ltd., a software solutions provider based in Jerusalem, Israel. The acquisition strengthens Aequus' expertise in XML/HTML content conversion with the addition of UB Access' patent-pending knowledge harvesting tools and adaptation engines known as the Semantic Web Accessibility Platform (SWAP™).

"We are excited about the addition of SWAP to our technology portfolio and to having UB's strong leadership and staff join our team. The acquisition provides us with greater opportunity to meet the needs of our educational and enterprise customers." said Richard Schatzberg, Aequus' founder and Chief Executive Officer. "Our customers will benefit from SWAP's ability to capture and utilize semantic knowledge to deliver powerful digital solutions."

Aequus will use the SWAP platform to serve three market needs. Aequus' Digital Publishing Solutions (DPS) division will use SWAP for the rapid conversion of Adobe® PDF, QuarkXPress®, or Adobe InDesign® files provided by educational publishers into consistently and intelligently tagged XML files that can then be converted into a student-ready Aequus HotBook™ and rendered by Aequus AspireReader™. This digital consumable enables students to interact and learn from publishers' educational content in new ways that meet students' interests and learning styles. Moreover, SWAP rapidly and effectively creates NIMAS-compliant files for the K-12 market from the same educational publisher files.

For Aequus' web conversion services, SWAP rapidly converts inaccessible websites into accessible, Section 508, and W3C-compliant formats for people with different disabilities, devices and learning styles who use assistive technology. The tool captures and utilizes semantic knowledge either at the point that content is created or through review of legacy content, resulting in user-selected reading and display options such as advanced navigation, text-only, and a page map view.

Lastly, Aequus will use SWAP as a data integration tool. With its semantic knowledge capture processes, SWAP increases the speed and effectiveness of data and system conversion processes, including interoperability, foreign language translation, geographic localization, and multiple platform readiness.

As part of the acquisition, Lisa Seeman, founder and President of UB Access, will join the Aequus management team as Chief Technology Officer for Aequus DPS and will also serve as Managing Director of UB Access' operations in Israel.
